Double Settee with Woven Seat
2 part class: Thursday, 6-10pm; finishing on Friday 8am-12pm
Mario Messina
This 1 inch scale double settee is one of my own designs. It has turned front legs and turned back posts, and a woven tape seat made of 1/16th inch wide tea dyed satin ribbon with a cushion in between.
You will receive an unfinished fully constructed frame. Using my finishing techniques, you will paint the frame with acrylic paint then distressing and finally applying an antiquing gel. Next, I will show you how to weave the double tape seat in a checkerboard pattern from the 1/16 inch ribbon. If all goes smoothly you should be able to bring home a beautiful, finished piece.
Teacher Supplies: Settee, ribbon, weaving needle, cushion, paint, and antiquing supplies
Student Brings: Paint Brushes, if you’d like to paint your Settee a different color, please bring your any acrylic paint, keeping in mind that it will change color depending on the level of antiquing applied, open mind, and patience
